I have just purchased a very rare MB. Its an Iglhaut 410D 4x4.
It should be an Afrika-Cruiser...
It has the naturally aspirated OM602 D29 (long stroke).
95hp @ 3800 rpm. 190Nm @ 2300rpm.
After I mounted big MT wheels the car lost any power

Although it has "short" axles and gearbox ratios.

So I decided to put some turbocharged power in that bus.
I do not want to put in a complete OM602 D25A because long stroke is cool for that heavyweight
and because my engine has only 100k km - it is like new.
I want to achieve about 130-140hp and some more torque (260-290Nm).
So I think of injection pump and cylinder head from D25A.
The piston-cooling oil-nozzles are already installed on my engine.
Maybe I have to take a bigger oil pump because of turbocharger.
Exhaust manifold and turbocharger should come from Sprinter OM602 D29 DELA.
Also I want to integrate an water-intercooler.
Are there any experiences on turbocharging an naturally aspirated diesel?
I have some fear of the "standard" pistons, crankshaft and bearing halfs.
Or are they though enough for turbocharging.
Thanks in advance!
